I had lots of rosemary-spiked crusty white bread left over this week from last Friday's purchase at the Blackbird Bakery.
This Sunday I decided to try my hand at something new. This wouldn't be new for most people, but for me, roasting a leg of pork is a sparkling, never-before-attempted experience. A Sunday roast, no less.
For 2013, I decided to make a different Christmas cake. I was tempted by the idea of macerating the fruit in sloe gin and orange. In the end I went for brandy, but the rest of the mix is much lighter than my usual batter, spicy and fragrant and pale.
After baking quite a few sourdough loaves and some successful experiments (as well as the occasional disaster), I wanted to try something new. I came across a recipe for Sourdough Brioche on the Sourdough Companion and thought I'd give it a try.
This week we met up with some friends who are visiting the UK for the Olympics. Their criteria for a restaurant were that it be cheap, central but good, so I suggested Dishoom in Covent Garden.
